Already, workers in the ministry protested for several hours the action of the Commissioner and gave the state government five day ultimatum to remove the Commissioner for his action.
Sources said the Commissioner had approached Afeniforo for a tractor but he was told that all the tractors were presently on sites.
Afeniforo was said to have explained to Tofowomo that even the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Gboye Adegbenro who has authority to release the Tractor was at Ilara Mokin where he was inspecting road projects.
It was learnt that Tofowomo reportedly phoned his counterpart at Ministry of Works, telling him that the Director Mechanical said he had diverted all the tractors to his home town.
The Director, sources said cautioned Tofowomo not to lie against him, saying he did not tell him that all the tractors were diverted to Ilara-Mokin.
The Commissioner was said to have slapped the Director for arguing with him, an attitude sources in the ministry has become part of Tofowomo.
Workers Led by officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) converged on the premises of the ministry of Work yesterday to protesting against the assault meted to Afeniforo.
But the timely intervention of the Chairman of the Join Negotiation Council, Mr. Solomon Adelegan prevented further uproar, as he persuaded the workers against taking law in their hands.
The Head of Service, Mrs. Kosemani Kolawole, invited the assaulted Director and the Permanent Secretary, to settle the matter.
It was learnt that the Deputy Governor,Alhaji Ali Olanusi also came to the ministry to plead with the aggrieved workers over the assault meted to their boss, but they insisted that the Commissioner must be relieved of his job for his indecent action.
The State Governor,Dr Olusegun Mimiko who would have immediately resolved the issue was said to be outside the country.
