Ondo Commissioner, Five LP supporters declared wanted over alleged attack on a socked with acid man

Five Labour Party members and a serving commissioner in Ondo State have been declared wanted by the State Police Command over alleged acid attack on another member of the party, Mr. Adetute Ajisafe.

Ajisafe, who is also known as "Pistol" was attacked with acid last weekend in Akure, the Ondo State Capital by suspected five LP hoodlums and who are also supporters of the commissioner for Natural Resources, Alhaji Lateef Oluboyo.

The victim, who is presently on admission at the state Specialist Hospital Akure, is LP Chieftain in Ode-Irele but sojourns in Akure .

Sources said  Ajisafe was soaked with acid by the suspects now at large in his shop at Ala Quarters.

The Victim, who spoke to reporters on his sick bed, alleged the Commissioner, stressing that he sponsored the attack.

He said'' The Commissioner called me on his mobile line three days before the incident, threatening that he would deal with me over the petitions  I sent to the Governor about his ministry.

Ajisafe who is a former member of the state Forest Monitoring Unit, said he wrote three petitions to the governor revealing the antics of the commissioner and how he allegedly colluded with  encroachers from Edo State to cut tree illegally in the state’s forest reserve and evaded arrest.

He said“I think the Governor must have acted on those petitions and that was why the commissioner called me on my mobile line and threatened to deal with me for reporting him to the Governor.

''I thought he was joking. Three days after, I was in my shop at about 8 p.m when five men came in a Toyota Avalon car. I thought they came for relaxation at my joint.

''All of a sudden, they came towards me and within the twinkling of an eye they poured acid on me and vamoosed. I know the driver that drove the car, but I could not identify other people.

''They have destroyed my life but I know that  God I serve will spare my life”. Ajisafe lamented

He said some members of his family quickly reported the matter at Ala police station on the day of the incident but wondered why the police was yet to arrest the suspects.

“It is now obvious that the police are playing politics with the matter because of the personalities involved. As I am talking to you now, no arrest has been made.

''The commissioner is walking freely and boasting that heaven will not fall. That is why I am calling on Inspector General of Police, Governor Olusegun Mimiko, and Human Rights Activists  to come to my aid and ensure that justice is done in this matter”. Ajisafe pleaded

But the commissioner said he was not aware of any attack on Ajisafe .

He also denied  threatening him on phone before the incident saying''“ as journalist, I want you to do a thorough investigation about this matter and find out whether I threatened him on phone or not.

The Commissioner said the only  time he called the victim was when he heard that he was among the Timber Trade Organization (TTO) members that  protested  against  the closure of the forestry.

According to him,''the only thing I did when I became  the  commissioner was the  dissolution of the former forest monitoring unit in which  Ajisafe was a member''.

It will be recalled that sometimes late last year [around deccember] members of TTO protested to the State government office in Akure over the closure of the forest and also called for the removal of the Commissioner and one Mr. Agunloye
