NYSC Service To be Extended to 2years

Indication has emerged that the Federal Government is now making a move to extend the service year of tertiary institutions' graduands to two years instead of the initial one year.

National Youths Service Corps [NYSC] which was founded by decree No.24 of 22nd May 1973 was initiated with a bid to reconstruct, reconcile and rebuild the country after the Nigerian Civil war.

This information which was released on Raypower Radio, graduands will now spend two years in serving their fatherland if such bill is being passed by the national assembly.

However, a source close to the government said that the present administration took such move in order to reduce the high rate of unemployment in the society.

The source, who preferred anonymity said President Goodluck Jonathan is totally disturb about how graduates are struggling to get jobs.

He said "Government believe that if the country continue to produce coppers without engaging them, the future of the country is at rick. That is why they believe if the coppers are kept in custody for two years, they will be able to look for ways in order to engage those who are still idles"
