How Enikuomehin's name was dropped from NDDC nominees' list
What an interesting story CULLED from DailyPost; How will Enikuomehin feel by now has Jonathan under pressure finally dropped his name for one Mr. Amuwa Benson as NDDC representative from Ondo State? It will be recalled that Enikuomehin was earlier appointed on this same board in late 2009 but later kicked out in 2011 with other members. You will also remember that Enikuomehin started what is called PDP LP in Ondo State. You may be doubting me, but I am very sure he started the political game. He openly said this during his days as NDDC representative at one of his functions at Igbokoda in 2010 that "I am a PDP member in Abuja but an LP party chieftain in Ondo. He even granted an interview with the NATION newspaper where he said late governor Olusegun Agagu was the major problem of PDP in the state. He later declared for LP during the struggle for Governor Mimiko's reelection. He was the state agent of LP at the 2012 governorship election. Some months after the election, rumours filtered in that Enikuomehin may likely replace Ajimuda Debo as OSOPADEC's chairman but it came as rude shock as another name was announced for the post of OSOPADEC's chair. few weeks later, a report came into the state that Enikuomehin has been nominated for NDDC seat from Ondo State. It was jubilation galore in the pages of newspapers on daily basis. With unknown groups and monarch congratulating the Ilaje born politician, saying his nomination is a new dawn to the Niger delta areas in the state. But, unfortunately, another drama came up following the intervention of some powerful forces. Please, read the report below and see how Enikuomehin's name was dropped
The battle for the representative of Ondo State in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has taken a dramatic dimension following the announcement of the Presidency to replace the initial name nominated for the post, Mr. Benson Enikuomehin with former Çhairman of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okitipupa local government chapter, Mr. Amuwa Benson
Competent sources told DailyPost that this development came up following the outcome of a meeting the state Governor, Olusegun Mimiko held with the Secretary to the government of the
federation Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and President Goodluck Jonathan at the presidential villa in Abuja early hours of Tuesday
Mr Amuwa’s name was however read on the floor of the Senate as a
replacement of Mr Enikuomehin’s name who was a former member of the
governing council of NDDC between 2009 and September 2011.
Sources said the decision to replace Enikuomehin’s name may not be
unconnected with the Presidency’s resolution not to return any former
member of the board into the incoming board.
Governor Mimiko who arrived Abuja on Monday night to effect the
replacement aboard chartered flight, was accompanied by his Chief of
Protocol Mr Fashoranti and two top government officials from the
state.
The governor had said that he had no personal grudge against
the former nominee but declined to give reasons for his replacement.
Deliberations over Enikuomehin’s replacement according to sources,
begin shortly after he was cleared by the department of the State
Security Service in Abuja following which his name was subsequently
forwarded to the senate last Wednesday.
Governor Mimiko had in July recommended Amuwa Benson, the incumbent state representative on the board of NDDC Mr. Dele Omogbemi Citizen and Dr. Benson Enikuomehin to the presidency for consideration out
which one of them will be picked for the NDDC job.
Amuwa Benson was said to have also been cleared by Department of the
State Security (DSS) in Abuja last Thursday before his name was
finally sent to the upper legislative House yesterday for
ratification.
Speaking with reporters, Dr Enikuomehin confirmed that his name has been replaced with that of the former NBA chairman in Okitipupa zone Mr Amuwa Benson.
He however declined to comment further.
