Why Fayemi lost Ekiti Poll-Ex-Speaker

Former Speaker in the old Ondo State House of Assembly, Chief Femi Akinyemi, weekend attributed the defeat of Ekiti State governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi in the June 21 governorship election to perceived inexperience in the politics of the state

Speaking after being conferred with Award of Merit at the 2014 Usi Day Celebration, the former speaker argued that Fayemi failed to win because he did not have structures in the state to reach out to the people.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, who was also the ex-chairman, Ekiti State Local Government Service Commission during the regime of Engr Segun Oni, said “I just consider it laughable when these All Progressives Congress, APC people were talking about rigging in an election that was transparent.

”Governor Fayemi lost to inexperience and incompetence. He has no viable structures in all the councils. He did not conduct local government election where people can go to seek helps.

If Fayemi has been competent and experienced enough, he ought to know that he must put in place good structures that could march up the PDP that has people in virtually all the towns and villages in Ekiti.”
